Strada Stretta, Valletta

Within walking distance of floriana, exactly 7 minutes away, is the Tirton Fountain and the the majastic new Valletta entrance as newly designed by Renzo Piano ( a renowned international Italian architect who also designed "the shard" and the glass pyramid at l'louvre, Paris ". Strait Street ( as it is also nown was Malta's "red light district" for many years. The years when Nato navy Sailors and British sailors swormed this narrow busy road full of Bars dance halls, restaurants and prostitution.
After 1979 when the last british navy ship left the street died and was abandoned for around 2 decades. It was considered to be "the street of sin" by many locals. The majority of the Maltese are very chrisitan at heart were prostitution is not a good thing at all!
These last few years though, there has been a drive to revive it into a buzzing late night venue full of wine bars, restaurants and performing arts venues.
