Floriana & Valletta

Floriana, a small town on the doorstep of Valletta. Built in 1636 by the Italian military engineer Pietro Paolo Floriani. Initially called Borgo Vilhena after the Grandmaster de Vilhena in 1724. However, it was later called Floriana. FlorIana has gardens like The Mall garden, Argotti botanical Gardens and Sa Mason Gardens. Popular monuments such as Independance monument, The Triton, Dun karm, Grandmaster De Vilhena, Dante and various other important Maltese personalities.

The graneries (also known as 'fosos') are just a stone's throw away from 8vilhena. The graneries are underground rock-cut silos where wheat was stored, originally constructed by Grand Master Marino de Redin in 1657. The fortified walls and the entrance of Valletta are a few steps away from this area.
